Resolved Question: How do I cut this out?

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs014.snc4/34051_404104076301_589366301_5061761_4895130_n.jpg This was piece I made yesterday. I am planning on making another one, but with a slot clip out at the bottom. Almost like a door way shape like a upside up, letter U. The reason why the entry is going to be placed in there is to allow a tiny candle to sit inside. I don't want the entry to go every the way through the log, but basically as if their is shelf clip out into the wood. I don't know if this is good idea because of the heat of candle. I figured that I could drill a hole at an angle from the back that goes down to the candle, almost like a chimney to allow the heat to escape. But how do I something like this?

Voting Question: A piece of vinyl siding came off my chimney?

It was during a big storm, It blew several houses away. I found it but its cracked in places. It came off close the top of the chimney. Its about 5 feet long and just over 7 inches. My thinking was Ii could take one piece off from below the patio (same size) and swap the broken one there, where rain doesn't receive to it. The big impediment is not having a ladder to receive up there. Also, I don't know exactly how it attaches. I cant imagine another piece of siding would be very expensive assuming I can find the exact right size but I really think that I could swap it with a top one below the patio where it almost never gets wet. (I guess unless I spray washed there) Also, its been several weeks and rained several times since then. Will the wood on the outside of the chimney be ok ? It attaches to the home but its really several feet outside of the home where the vinyl is missing. Appreciate any suggestions. I know Im going to hire a handyman. My question was more along the lines of does he need any materials to hang it or not ?

Resolved Question: Why is he picking on me?

So I'm in college and I went to look my guy pal and his girlfriend (also my pal) who were hanging out in his room taking a break from studying. I had just arrive back from the art building and used charcoal for two pieces of art. When I went to look my friends, his roommate (who I know as a good acquaintance) was like two feet away from me and looked at me. He just said "Wow! You have tons of stuff on your face!". I just said "Oh it's just charcoal, I came from the art building." And he just says "Oh well if I had just met you, I'd think you were just a chimney sweep." Then he started singing a tune and when I started to sing, he just stopped and said "did I say you could sing along?". He left for a brief moment and as he was going to the bathroom, he teased me about my sorority and how we didn't do anything with his fraternity last year. Later I asked my two friends if the charcoal had been that noticeable. One said "No" and the other said they didn't notice until he pointed it out. I looked in the mirror and didn't even notice the charcoal spots until I looked closely. So why do you guys think he's picking on me?

Voting Question: how to connect black stove pipe to Class A Chimney?

Here is my problem: running black stove pipe up to class A chimney passing through ceiling which passes through roof to outside air. I have 8" pipe, chimney and collar coming off stove. I am trying to connect a non-flared end of an 8" black stove pipe to a non-crimped 8" Class A Chimney, or in other words, trying slide a piece over another except both pieces are exactly the same size. Any ideas? Is there some sort of an adapter out there that I can use and still be safe? Next issue: when it comes to the collar on the stove itself, the collar is where the damper is located and the crimped end of the black stove pipe must go in as well....First of every, the black stove pipe would keep the damper from turning, secondly, it won't fit anyway! I am guessing they make a "splicer" that I could use for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, this is a free-standing wood stove. Thanks in advance!

Resolved Question: I have a stainless exterior chimney that pieces together. Can these be run up an interior brick chimney?

A relative has given me a stainless steel chimney intended to be put on exterior of home. I'm wondering if these can be run up a regular brick chimney? Ours has an offset for the fireplace, which would make things difficult. Can these be attached to a flexible chimney liner, to receive around the offset? Our brick chimney needs replacing towards the top and I was thinking about taking it down to inside the attic, and then having just the stainless arrive out of the roof. Any suggestions appreciated. PS the reason I don't just want to run the stainless pipe up the exterior, is because that would require moving the furnace and water heater.

Resolved Question: Would you care to read some Lewis Carroll instead of my usual fare?

A odd Wild tune He thought he saw an Elephant That practised on a fife: He looked again, and found it was A letter from his wife. "At length I realize," he said, "The bitterness of life!" He thought he saw a Buffalo Upon the chimney-piece: He looked again, and found it was His Sister's Husband's Niece. "Unless you leave this home," he said, "I'll send for the police!" he thought he saw a Rattlesnake That questioned him in Greek: He looked again, and found it was The Middle of Next Week. "The one thing I regret," he said, "Is that it cannot talk!" He thought he saw a Banker's Clerk Descending from the bus: He looked again, and found it was A Hippopotamus. "If this should stay to dine," he said, "There won't be much for us!" He thought he saw a Kangaroo That worked a Coffee-mill: He looked again, and found it was A Vegetable-Pill. "Were I to swallow this," he said, "I should be very sick!" He thought he saw a Coach-and-Four That stood beside his bed: He looked again, and found it was A Bear without a Head. "needy thing," he said, "needy silly thing! It's waiting to be fed!" Lewis Carroll

Resolved Question: Do I need flue lining?

I live in a 3-storey detached home in the UK. I have a very very old gas boiler in the basement supplying my hot water needs. In order to vent the exhaust gases from the gas boiler, a metal flue lining was run through the existing masonry chimney flue arriving at the chimney stack, which has been capped off keep for a metal cowl. At least that is how it should be in theory (or so I've been told). We have had to dismantle the chimney stack recently and found that the cowl was indeed connected to a piece of flue lining, however it has been clip off about 2 metres down at a bend. My question is...is this piece of flue lining necessary? Can I allow the old gas boiler to use the existing masonry chimney to receive rid of exhaust gases or does a metal flue liner have to run through; a) the entirety of the chimney or; b) just the start and end points?

Resolved Question: Do you like it at all?? Be honest please!?

The silent Young Man Once there was a king whom had a daughter. The daughter was enchanted with beauty, intelligence, and kindness. Her named was Alissa. When she was only 12 years old, she had met a boy, whom she liked very much… and whom she wished she could marry when she grew up. Everyday, they would meet in their special hiding place, and talk and play. They were best friends, until one day, he didn’t show up. She grew up to be 19 years old, and many men wanted to win her heart, yet they couldn’t. Alissa thought every of the men in her kingdom were either greedy, narcissistic, or just not nice. Except for 12 of them. The 12 were invited to the palace to have a contest; on who would win Alissa’s heart. They had to face challenges. The king said that whoever Alissa chooses, will be prince, and future king. The first challenge, was to impress Alissa by having each man pick the rarest flowers out of a forest nearby. Now, Alissa’s close pal knew which flowers were the rarest, and which were not. Alissa’s pal, Alison, came to the kingdom from a far away country; Germany. She would observe each man’s group of flowers, and announce whom had the rarest. There was only one rule in this challenge; no one could pick the same species of flowers. 2 men picked the same species, and went home to their cottage. The relax were still in, and the princess kept every the flowers in a vase, admiring them. Alison would now pick the 7 that had the rarest ones. One man, whom was the quietest, was announced the winner, but 4 others would still compete. The next day, each man would try to give the princess something they think she would treasure forever, and after several other challenges, only 3 were in… including the youngest one, which was the silent one. 2 showered her with jewelry they traded from another land, and also flowers, and everything every other girl would treasure. But the silent one gave her a poem written on a piece of paper, and as Alissa read it, she fell in adore with it: Roses are red, violets are blue, Rare flowers are amazing, And so are you I have given my voice To an bad wizard far away In exchange for a gift of poetry So that you will adore me starting today The princess was so pleased at the poem written by the young man, and she fell in adore with him. The princess dismissed every the others, but every the princess could think of was: “How can I receive to the wizard to trade back the gift of poetry for his voice?” So the princess asked her soon-to-be husband to guide her to where the bad wizard was. She wanted to hear his voice. They traveled for days, seeking the wizard. Through storms, through dark caves, protecting each other. When they reached a tiny cottage with smoke coming from the chimney, they entered the little cottage, and the wizard was not there. He was in his bed, sleeping the day away. But on a little shelf in one room, was a little bottle, labeled: “The voice of the peasant”. Alissa knew that that was her lover’s voice, and she thought that maybe he had to drink it. So she told him to drink it, and he still couldn’t talk. The young man, disappointed, was captured by the wizard, and locked up, Alissa held captive and was forced to be the wizard’s servant. For months, they stayed there, and even though the man was fed, he felt as if he could not live. “Please,” pleaded the princess, “give him his voice back… if you do, I will give you every of the gold I have with me.” The wizard gave the young man his voice back, and told them it would arrive back in a few days. He asked to have the gold. She had hidden the gold in the forest one night when everyone was asleep, thinking that she would never have to give it up. It was in a tree, tied to the tree with a rope so that it would never fall. It was at the very top, and she knew no squirrels or chipmunks could chew through the thick rope. So she decided to trick the wizard by convincing him the gold was in the cellar. She led him down there, and when they were there, Alissa ran out quickly, and locked the wizard in there, leaving him to rot. Alissa let her lover out, and they traveled back to her kingdom. By the time they reached the kingdom again, his voice had not yet arrive back. She thought that the wizard had tricked them. She kissed him, and started to walk away, but then, he suddenly said, “Wait!” and as Alissa turned around, she realized that her kiss had brought his voice back. He revealed that he was the boy she met when she was 12, and that ever since he first saw her when they were little kids, he had loved her. And that the reason he didn’t arrive one day was because his mom had forced him to stay at the home everyday, never to leave it… until he was invited to be in challenges to win the princess’ heart. They married each other, and they lived happily ever after in the kingdom, ruling their country. I wrote it and my pal ur stupid and fake. ok..... i'll wait for more answers, and if they really didn't like it... im embarrassed to hav even posted it in the first place and will delete it. the stupid and fake thing was about this one guy that wrote that he completely hated it. I reported him, and his answer was deleted. i didn't mean germany that way. i meant it was far from where they were.

Resolved Question: What is this piece of lab equipment called?

I am working on my science fair project report and I am trying to remember the name of a piece of lab equipment that I used for my project. Resolved Question: Log burner v old traditional fireplace in old house?

Any advice from interior designers or renovators please!! I've got a 400 yrs old home. In the living room there is a very old black fireplace, it's got a black canopy and a fancy little black surround bit that patterned. The mantelpiece is marble but in a bad state although we're keeping it. The fireback and chimney breast needs work, ie re-build and chimney insert. We really fancy a log burner and the log burner man said we could take off the black canopy and leave the fancy trim bit that surrounds it and stand the log burner in front on some old quarry tiles we have. The tiles that surround the flame back are ancient, a pear pattern, but most of them are missing or damaged, every that bit would be ripped out and replaced with a flat back steel piece for the log burner to stand in front of. if I take off the canopy I'll store it in the Attic for future generations to put back if need be..... I'm really in a dilemma about the whole thing, I don't know which way to go. A log burner would be better as the flame sometimes blows back and it's difficult work looking after a real flame. What do you think? should I renovate old fireplace or replace with log burner?

Resolved Question: POLL: At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

So how old were you when you found out and how did you find out? Did you put the pieces together and found out yourself, or did your parents break the news to you? Or maybe someone else, but you didn't believe them at first until some time later you realized that your home doesn't have a chimney and that you always keep the doors and windows locked at night. So someone on the inside was workin' undercover. lol

Resolved Question: Where are the Christmas stories?

'Twas the night before Christmas and every through the home The whole damn family was drunk as a louse Grandma and Grandpa were singing a tune And the kid was in bed flogging his dong Ma, home from the cathouse, and me out of jail Had just crawled into bed for a nice piece of tail When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter I jumped out of bed to look what was the matter Away to the window I flew like a flash Threw open the shutters and fell on my àss The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow Gave a whorehouse-like luster to the objects below When what to my bloodshot eyes should appear But a rusty old sleigh and two mangy reindeer With a little old driver just pounding his dick I knew in a moment, it must be Saint Nick Slower than snails his reindeer they came He bítched and he swore as he called them by name Now Dancer, now Prancer, up over the walls Quick now, damn it, or I'll clip off your balls. Then up to the roof he stumbled and fell And came down the chimney like a bat out of hell He staggered and stomped and went to the door Tripped on his peter, and fell on the floor I heard him exclaim, as he rode out of sight: Píss on you every, it's a hell of a night.

Resolved Question: Annabelle Dollhouse kit by Greenleaf help!?

I purchased the Annabelle Dollhouse kit by Greenleaf around six or seven years ago, but put off building it until recently. Unfortunately due to multiple moves throughout the years, the instructions were lost. At the time of purchase, I did however write on each piece of wood where it belonged, and so far I've been lucky in guessing how each piece goes together. Until now, of course. I'm having a lot of trouble with the chimney. If there is anyone out there with the instructions who can take me through the set-up, step by step, or if they know of a link to some instructions that would be fantastic. Thanks so much!

Voting Question: HAVEN'T HAD WATER IN 5 DAYS!! SLUM LORD PLEASE HELP!!?

OK now heres the story.. I live in a 2 family home with a basement apt. I just moved in on July 4 2009. Since July 4TH this apt has gave me nothing but problems. When I first moved in the landlord waited to give me a stove for 2 weeks. Now he also never came back with locks for my door.. Excuse me he did one for the handle HOWEVER it isn't on properly so the door don't close so I have to put something in the door to keep it closed. 3rd in my room there is a leak so when it rains water drips on my floor. Also when it rains water drips down from the chimney shoot onto my stove. My toilet leaks and last but not least I have had NO WATER FOR 5 DAYS. The couple that lives in the basement apt there apt has been flooded 2wice since I've moved in. So now the people downstairs have clip off MY water because when it goes to the drain (which is actually inside their apt) it runs over and floods them out. To make a long story short I don't know what else to do. I have called my landlord several times and also emailed him letting him know every these problems especially the water one as I DO HAVE 3 kids(AGES 12,10 AND 3.) AND WATER IS VERY IMPORTANT. I'm not even able to flush the toilet and when it is very necessary for me to flush I have to ask the man in the basement to clip my water on so I can at least flush. I also have contacted the board of health they did arrive and take pictures of my apt and the basement apartment and told me the basement apt was illegal however they still have not did anything. They did call my landlord (he picked up for them) and told them he had to have this problem fixed but here it is Sunday and the problem still remains. I'm sleepy of bird bathing and having to buy gallons of water everyday for needs when I pay $1050 a month and when he clearly stated this apt was NEWLY RENOVATED which was a total lie. Any help on what I can do next? Besides hold his rent?? I'm every out of options. P.S I did pay 1 month rent and 1 month security a total of $2100 to move in here. He never brought me back my lease like he said he was going too and every I have is a little piece of paper where he did write that I gave him 1 month Security on June 3rd 2009. Also I have left one thing out. This is the 2nd time in 1 month since Ive lived here we have had no water. The 1st time the ROTO ROOTER was called and we were told by the ROTO ROOTER that what he did was a temporary job and that it wasn't going to hold out to long and that the LANDLORD would have to fix a pipe underground that would cost and arm and leg. I have already called them they are the ones that came to take the pictures not the BOARD OF HEALTH. MY MISTAKE.

Resolved Question: Couple of questions about going from a wood stove to a Pellet stove.?

I just recently bought a new pellet stove to go in place of the wood stove that I originally had. I am going to be using my existing brick chimney. The wood stove originally had 8" pipe. So I will need the adapter from 8" to 3". Also the way the existing flue pipe was in the masonry it was just pushed in and came out fairly easy. It was a single wall pipe with a serade on it that was just pushed in. I found this website: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JTHKWS/ref=… This piece on the top with the lines that looks the piece that was just pushed in the hole in the brick chimney. Will I need this piece and that 8" to 3" adapter as the original pipe is too long. Also Should there be some sort of sealer on the pipe when it is pushed into the hole, and also should there be sealer on the 8" to 3" adapter as it seems its just slides on. If so what nice of sealer is needed. Thanks in advance and if you need more info please say so and I will try my best to help.

Resolved Question: Give me an honest opinion about my story.?

This was a homework assignment for October. Please remember that I don't like this type of genre. It is fiction. Payback Pitter, patter, pitter, patter the rain sounded as it hit the metal buckets. The storm shattering the sky. I laid there on the icy, lumpy bed, with no more than a thin piece of fabric. I don’t know if anybody was really asleep in the orphanage, for Mistress Hawk was in a terrible mood. Already that day, she had given thirteen out of the eighteen kids a whipping for no particular reason. Thank goodness I was not one of those kids. She had made us every clean the creepy basement ( that was really creepy) Also, she had us clean the kitchen and eat any crumbs we could find for dinner, and there are definitely not enough crumbs in that kitchen to feed eighteen half-starved kids. If that wasn’t enough to keep you awake, try imagining that day for the relax of your life. Plus, the occasional attic sweeping, chimney cleanings, and poisonous spider testing. Though, if every went well tonight, every of those days would change greatly. Kenneth, Tara, Sarah, James, Edward, Thomas, Emily, Randy, Sandy, and I, Elizebeth, slipped out of our so called beds. Gathering in a tiny circle, the ten older kids went over the plan. “Okay, so Ken, you have the poisonous spiders?” asked James. “Yep,” replied Kenneth holding up a big jar, filled with every sorts of spiders. “Sandy, you have the door cease?” questioned James “Right here”, Sally answered back, supporting a container filled with goop that sealed quite quickly. “Rugrats”, I whispered as noisy as I dared to the eight young kids. “Keep lookout”. With that, the ten of us slumped out of the door and prepared for the grizzly task ahead. Chapter 2 In pairs, our numbers separated along the hallways for extra protection. As everyone fanned out, Sandy, James, Kenneth, and myself, made our way to Mistress Hawk’s bedroom. Arriving at Mistress Hawk’s door, I gingerly put my hand on the door handle, hoping it wasn’t locked. It opened to my relief, and even better, it didn’t creak. Ken took my place beside the open door, as I shifted to his spot. He lifted off the cover of the jar and set it down sideways, allowing the arachnids to enter the room. After carefully shutting the door, Sandy opened her jar of goop, as every four of us plunged our hands into it to start the task of sealing the door. 15 minutes later, James tested the door, and to his satisfaction, it stayed tightly close. The four of us sat down outside the door to wait for the bad lady’s last sound to hit our ears. Minutes past and our tension grew. “ Aughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”, met our ears followed by a big thump. Running as quick as possible, we made it to our cramped room within seconds. Grinning was every it took for the other kids to realize that our problems were gone forever…Or were they? Chapter 3 I woke up to a heart-wrenching scream. I immediately sat straight up bewildered. Surveying the room quickly, my ear and eyes caught sight of four year old Polly, screaming her head off while she looked as white as a sheet. Continuing my survey, my eyes, yet again, locked onto the source of Polly’s screaming. Hundreds of gutted and bloody rats littered the floor. But the blood wasn’t just on the rats, but on the walls. Hearing cries of fear as 16 kids woke up to this horrifying sight, I saw, perhaps, the most disturbing scene of every. In bloody letters, the walls were coated in one sentence. YOU’VE HAD YOUR FUN, NOW IT IS MY TURN! At that moment, the flimsy sheets on the beds were ripped off and tore through the air to wrap themselves around thin air. Except, there was a grim grin floating in the air belonging to Mistress Hawk, terrorizing those who had ended her life, forcing her into ghosthood. Shrieks filled the air, that were suddenly clip off as an glistening, sharp axe hurtled across the room… straight at Polly. The only thing everyone could do was watch in horror, aside from Mistress Hawk, as Polly’s head fell to the ground, followed by a rancid odor. With a click of ghostly fingers, Mistress Hawk made three snakes appear around Tara, Edward, and Thomas’s neck. Inch by inch, the snakes’ grips got tighter and tighter, until my three friends were turning blue. One by one, their eyes rolled back into their head, buckled their legs, and crashed to the ground. The snakes held on for a while longer to make sure the task was complete. Nobody actually saw the ends of the last two victims, Tara and Edward. For us kids were fleeing for lives, heading towards the basement. Sandy heaved the cellar door open, and sprinted down, closely followed by James. I was the next person to scramble across the threshold, as I felt a icy wind blow against my back. Following this, a noisy bang as the cellar door closed. Whipping around, I tried with every my might to open the door, which felt like it was welded close. The pounding on the door turned into rapid rams with scream This is nowhere close my style. We were supposed to write the scariest story possible.

Resolved Question: Why can't I keep my wood stove running?

I have an enerzone solution 1.8 which I bought last year... I'm fairly new to wood burning, only been doing so for a few months now. The problem is I seem to have trouble getting a good bed of coals to last more than a couple hours. When I put a big piece of wood on the flame it usually won't burn and just smothers out the coals. I can have a great flame going for most of the evening (with tiny pieces of wood), spread out the coals before bed, put on a couple big pieces of wood, and they usually won't ignite. Not exactly sure if damper position has anything to do with this? Usually if I put on a big piece I will leave the damper open fully and leave the door slightly ajar for a little while. Should I be closing the door and closing the damper instead? Yes, my wood is fully seasoned, my chimney is clean, and is at the proper heighth for air flow. Some advice from an experienced wood burner would be appreciated since I can usually only burn tiny pieces of wood which won't last more than 4 hours. Thanks for the help.

Resolved Question: Can this old BBQ grill be saved?

I bought a home that was built in the 40's. Someone built a pretty decent brick table and chimney surrounding an outdoor grill. The inside of the grill itself is brick but has old metal doors with the name Majestic Company OF-A48-F. The whole thing is rusty but still pretty much put together. The cover is rusted over and has a few tiny holes where it rusted through. Inside the grill, the grates were in pieces but after I cleaned out about 2' of dirt and pecans it looks solid. I searched for this company and found nothing. Is it possible to buy replacement pieces for something like this?

Voting Question: Smoke from fireplace backing into room?

I have a very shallow fireplace and the smoke is backing into my living room. The chimney guy said there was no block in the chimney, that I should put just one log in the fireplace and buy a piece of flame resistant glass 35" x 6" to put on the top lip of the fireplace to keep the smoke in. When I called the supplier he recommended the supplier did not have any idea what I was talking about. What can I do? What seems to be the problem? Would glass doors help? (I don' t really like them) (I also find it difficult to believe that a thin piece of glass will keep the smoke in the fireplace!!) Thanks

Resolved Question: Is this a good story?

I started writing this story for a writing competition but don't really know if it's well written or not. I'm 19 an am aiming at a young adult audience, about my age and slightly older. It is a fantasy, but does it sound too fake or childish?? Please help. The once strong fortress of the prince now abandoned, stands dishevelled in ruins amidst the beautiful countryside. It was difficult to find, hidden in a valley of trees. The rock crackled pathway winds up the hill through ivy-covered archways half shaded by the huge trees and littered with red autumn leaves. As we approach the front door I look a tree spouting out from the tip of a tall chimney. Once upon a time this place was well looked after. Back when the prince had a purpose for being here, before the war, before the silent country towns were deserted and the castle was seized and set aflame. The scorch marks around the doorframe a terrible reminder of that time. We step inside to a room of rubble, timber, broken furniture and glass shards scattering the floor. Patches of light coming through cracks in the walls illuminate the decorative arches that frame the room. Even in ruins, this place still seems fit for royalty. The staircase at the back of the room looks dangerous but we take it up anyway, cautiously treading each step through the dust and rubble. The curved metal handlebar is still completely intact and the stairs prove sturdy. I notice the wallpaper peeled and in patches. This room was once a light, sky blue. The arches divide the room and the staircase and cast us into darkness as we ascend. The light hits us as we emerge on the second floor. The huge circular window on the wall opposite is un-shaded. It’s purple curtains torn and hanging in pieces, as if defeated by the light. There is a rock fireplace in the corner and bookshelves lined up against two of the walls. This was the prince’s study and whare he would have spent most of his time. There is door leading outside to a tiny balcony overlooking the sea. This is probably the most important and most glamorous room in the villa but it is not the room we are looking for. Stepping over the debris we make our way to the far side and force the decayed old door open to the side room. What greets us is a tiny bedroom with furniture cramped in every sorts of places. This is odd find; it seems out of place in a wealthy, big estate. There is a wide, intricately decorated fireplace with a long thin mantel upon it. As I walk over to examine it, I step on a tiny broken picture frame. I turn it over. It is a picture of Her, and so my theory was proved right. This room belonged to the person we have been searching for. The story is supposed to be max 1500 words long

Resolved Question: Help with choosing a fire place and what to do?

I'm moving home on Friday but a bit confused as I don't know much about anything to do with houses We have a place for a flame but no gas pipe and no mantel piece I was wondering what would be the best thing to have 1) A stove but we don't have our chimney lined 2) Gas flame but we don't have a gas pipe 3) Electric flame but I've heard they are most for decoration rather then heat... I would prefer a gas flame but how much does it cost to receive a gas pipe put in and where do you go to receive someone to do it? I'll be grateful for any useful information. Thank you

Resolved Question: What do you think of this room?

I created a floor plan for a room I'll be rearranging in an online creator and would like to know what you think. It will be my new room - live with parents and grandparents, still studying, 20 yrs. This is the link: http://www.zkracovatko.cz/dy3 I would like to comment on some things because they may not be clear due to limits the creator has: The left wall is actually to the east. The door leads to a balcony and is made of glass. The top wall leads to south. The door on the bottom leads to the bathroom, the door on the right wall leads to the relax of the flat. The irregularity next to it is where the chimney goes in the wall. The dark objects below windows symbolize heaters. The desk in the left-top corner consists of two parts, in fact. The computer is positioned so I can watch movies on it from the bed or from the armchair. The bed is in the corner because I like it this way - makes me feel secure. There is going to be a storage box below it for stuff I use rarely or which I'm sorry to toss out. It is a double bed, but I live alone. I want space. There will be shelves over it, where I'd keep my books and little before-snooze stuff. And a tiny light over the head. Below there will be a space with a mirror on the wall and a tiny shelf below it for make-up. The wardrobe next to it will be where I keep my accessories, jewelry, beauty stuff and fabrics. I can move a seat from the desk there. The line of shelves next to this is there to round the whole room and avoid stressing corner-to-corner. There I'd keep work in progress to have it in sight and motivate me to finish it. Opposite to it is a seat where I'd do my handwork - beading, embroidery, hand sewing. I can watch movies while doing this on the computer. over it there are shelves with stuff I need for this, my portable sewing mashine I can put on the desk and a little reading-lamp. Next to it is a tiny table I can put things on when I need them at hand. Before it there's an oval coffee table (again, no corner to corner) that can be moved next to the bed if I need space to lay a big piece of fabric on the ground. In the bottom-left corner there is a wardrobe with clothes. Don't take the colors too seriously. I do prefer light wood and warm orangeish colors, but this is too much.

Resolved Question: Chimney bricks fell on my car?

I live in a rental property and park my car next to the home, where my parking spot is. This morning some brick fell off the chimney and broke my back window. No other damage was done to my vehicle and no one was hurt by the falling bricks (even though someone could have been). I have insurance on my car which covers every comprehensive glass damage (like that from falling objects) with no deductible. I feel that it is reasonable to have the property owner pay the $300-400 to replace my window since it was a piece of their home that hit my car. I would like to know if everyone else agrees? WRG That is exactly what I think. I have contacted them and am going to wait until tomorrow to look if they either receive my car fixed (replacing glass takes about a half hour and can be done here) or make arrangements to receive it fixed. If this is not done tomorrow, I will contact my insurance company and receive it fixed myself.

Resolved Question: Help!! There is a mouse up my chimney passage in Fireplace?

The fireplace is fake and uses gas. It is every metal including the coal for a believable display The passage going up into the wall that guide to the chimney seems metal also.. My problem is -- I hear noisy bangs and scratching and tumbling and sometimes a few squeaks.. The mouse noises are echoing around the entire fireplace cos of the metal so It seems like the mouse is everywhere inside each corner at once, and I couldn't pin point his location, but I did a good check to spot him but there was nothing below the coal where the gas tube comes up. I realizes that these annoying noises are up the passage going to the chimney. This ugly piece of dirt is still in there and he didn't follow the lights in the room to arrive down.. Who should I call for help when the working day approaches? Gas company or chimney expert or pest control? P.S Even though I am a 21 year old male. I am extremly scared of them. Almost enough to faint, and thats just from hearing them, I don't know what will happen if I look it.. Don't giggle, this is a serious phobia to me. At least, even thought spiders scare me I still have the courage to capture them and put them outside the home.. Unlike some of you that are laughing at me but still screams historically at bugs.. I ain't going to bed until someone arrives.. I'm gonna stare at the fireplace until then. (I'ts currently 5.30am where I live) *I cant turn on the flame cos what if he catches flame and runs around the home and then the home will burn. Whit my luck it will survive after that.. I wouldn't suffocate him with the gas or anything, cos he would die slow and painful, but I would set a trap for a quick death but it seems useless right now as he seems to be stuck up there making noises constantly and he is still going for a good 15 hours now. And I don't want a dead mouse up there. He is out of reach and it will rott throughout the year causing a bad odor and when the icy winter returns, adding the flame to a long time dead mouse could be quite smelly especially during the christmas dinner!

Resolved Question: What would you do to improve this simple piece of blank verse?

Within my garden quick beside a wall Where I was digging in another age I found entombed in earth a child’s toy, A soldier every in tin from some great war; And when I wiped away the grime that time Had placed upon his face and uniform I saw he was a manneken every dressed In red, as if he bled his life away. And in my mind I heard vain Xerxes say To Artabanus, as the two surveyed The mighty Persian army there arrayed Before them, in a century, or less, every the grand warriors now proud and strong Would be unhappy memories and nothing more. Why did I have to find him there today? The very day I came to do my chore Of cleaning out the chimney, so the soot Of seasons’ fires past could be removed For a new start. And there, down in the dust And ash of yesteryear I found the bones And feathers of a robin that had flown Into the depths, safe haven from the storm, To sing an hour or two, and then his breast Incarnadine to rise and fall no more. I’d heard him sing so sweetly months ago But I’d forgotten him, too easily It seemed to me, and now the silent void Where he once trilled was but a dusty grave. What do they mean, these unhappy epiphanies? Why do my eyes grow icy and moist as I Look out on sunsets dressed in cochineal And hear the beating of two tiny wings, Then hear them cease as crimson turns to gray? I walk tonight beside the ocean’s quern And feel the Spindle of Necessity That runs through every transfix me to this place Of shadow figures marching hand in hand. They tread, a unhappy procession, ‘round the flame That flickers at the middle of the night. And yet, I could forget the daunting sight Had I not looked back at a beauty veiled And seen my footsteps too washed from the sand. The poem is essentially three connected experiences -- finding the toy soldier, and sharing in Xerxes' rumination on mortality; finding the skeletal robin in the chimney soot; walking along the shore and seeing footsteps washed away by the tides -- that every point toward a common theme of mutability and impermanence. every are connected by the color red, which interestingly enough is the color of blood, the "river of life." It seems to jump from one to nother, but the effect is entirely intentional.
